Natural ingredients have a great influence not only for our face but also hands. Below you will find a recipe for super-easy-to-do natural raspberry sugar hand scrub.

2 cups of raspberry yogurt
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 1/2 tbs. of olive oil
2 roses, remove (and reserve) petals
Mix the yogurt and olive oil together. Tear the rose petals into tiny pieces then stir them in. Put the mixture in the refrigerator until chilled. Stir in the sugar immediately before use. It’s ready !!!

We are pleased to publish our interview with Rebecca Flanagan – fashion designer from Dublin.

WoE:  Lets start from your short biography. Tell us a bit about yourself.

Rebecca: I studied Fashion Design at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. During my graduate year I was nominated for several fashion design awards and competitions. I was a finalist for the Persil Irish Fashion Awards in 2009 and later that year I went on to win the River Island Graduate Bursary award.

Companies, which I have worked for include the high street giant River Island, contemporary Irish fashion designer Joanne Hynes and the Irish Quinn and Donnelly label. I also interned with Katherine E Hamnett in London.

As a freelance stylist and I have collaborated with many established musicians, talented photographers, hair stylists and make-up artists. I am also the fashion consultant for the Dublin based company Kamalifestyles, whom I have also written articles for relating to style, image and the psychology of attraction.

WoE: Your life motto and dream?

Rebecca: Everything is happening so fast I have just been going with every opportunity I have gotten to launch myself into the fashion industry. I would like to have my own label but I wont embark on that venture until I have all the necessary experience I need to create a successful Fashion label. As for a life motto, I constantly remind myself to have fun with design and enjoy a balance of work, rest and play!

WoE: Your favorite fashion designer and style?

Rebecca: My style changes between seasons and I love exploring new styles and concepts. Some of my favourite designers would include Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Balmain, Maison Martin Margiela and Roland Mouret.

WoE: Do you think of fashion as a business or just a hobby?

Rebecca: Fashion has always been my career focus. As a designer and an artist I am excited by the ever-changing challenges that the fashion industry offers. I’ve learned a lot about the industry from my experiences and I am still finding that there is always more to be learned and discovered. Stressful as it can be, there’s never a dull moment!

WoE: Main source of your inspiration?

Rebecca: I don’t look at trends for inspiration; instead I look to find great fabrics and colours and create interesting shapes and textures. I work around a theme or concept, inspiring ideas for colour and material. I create a body of visual research through drawing, painting and photography and from there I use that work as the source for all things creative in the collection. For me, travelling offers endless sources of new and exciting research for my designs.

WoE: Your everyday style is…

Rebecca: I dress appropriately for an occasion; I would say my everyday style is relaxed. I love ethnic jewellery and clothes and I pick up many pieces on my travels. I like to wear things I’ve created or a vintage piece and team it with pieces from my own wardrobe.

WoE: What would you recommend to those wanting to be fashion designers?

Rebecca: It’s a competitive career from day one. There is huge competition to get into a prestigious college, there are the challenges within training to be a fashion designer in a fashion course and then there is the worldwide competition to get work. If you want to be a fashion designer you need to be a creative thinker, determined and extremely hard working, but most importantly you need to believe in yourself and your abilities.

Avocado (known also as Alligator Pear) is very nourishing for the skin, and this mask is especially good for mature, wrinkled and dry skin. Avocado contains a lot of vitamin A, B, E & C and Iron and is therefore used in a lot of skincare products.

Avocado Enriching Face Mask

1 very ripe avocado

Peel the avocado and remove the stone. Chop up and put it in a small bowl. Mash the avocado using a fork. Mixture should be creamy and smooth. Apply onto your face and neck. Wash out after 10 -15 min. Apply a toner and moisturizer.

Dry Skin Avocado Facial Mask

rosewater 5 ml
half avocado
Honey 5 ml

Mash avocado, add rosewater and honey. Apply and leave on your skin for around 20 minutes. Rinse off with tepid water and end by splashing the face with cold water. Apply a toner and moisturizer.
